Welcome to the homepage of DM music. DM music is the website of Diarmaid Moynihan, one of Ireland’s foremost uilleann pipers and composers. The Cork born musician has featured on many recordings and toured internationally appearing at major folk and jazz festivals throughout Europe, the US and Australia. His music has been recorded by some of traditional music’s finest musicians including Lunasa, Flook, Michael McGoldrick, Gráda, Spiritu 986, Kathryn Tickell and Kris Drever.
He is a former winner of both the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil and the Oireachtas and was a founder member of the groundbreaking band, Calico in the mid 1990’s who released two critically acclaimed albums. He has recently recorded with Carmina, Donal Lunny, Anxo Lorenzo and contributed music for numerous radio and tv programmes.
WELCOME TO 2011!
2011 promises to be a very exciting year for us as we will be featured on two new collections of music. The Celtic Connections 2 was released at this year’s Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow and is a wonderful Irish/Scottish collection of music with some great names like Lunasa, Sean Keane, Beoga, Corrina Hewat and Lori Watson contributing tracks. It is released by Weltenklang records in Austria where we will be doing a major tour in June & July this summer. It is available from www.weltenklang.at
We will also feature on Juelles a recently recorded album of European pipe music in Cantabria Spain which will be released later this year. We’ll keep you posted.
There are great new dates in the diary and The Lights of Ranzanico will get it’s long awaited UK release on February 14th next. Proper Music will overseeing the physical release of the CD across retail outlets in the UK and will also coordinate a worldwide digital download release of the album ensuring it is available on itunes, CD Baby, Amazon and many more.
